Young Potential Development Programme

Working in Communities across the East Midlands, the Young Potential Development Programme is a long term intensive support programmes that makes a measurable difference to young people who are experiencing serious difficulties in terms of attending school, resisting drugs or avoiding teenage parenthood.

Each year-long programme runs weekly sessions, either through school or in community settings, covering personal effectiveness, physical and emotional education, arts, sports and educational activities. A key element of the programme is supporting the young people to get involved in their local community through taking part in local events, volunteering or fundraising for local projects.

During the programme there is an optional week long residential programme where the young people learn about the practical aspects of managing their thoughts and feelings differently so that they can feel emotionally secure, and through this, be able to make clearer choices around their relationships, attitudes and behaviour.

The programme provides consistent support, information, advice and guidance to young people over an extended period of time, and has a significant impact on their ability to access opportunities, improve their relationships and make improved health choices.
